Only medical cardholders, caregivers, and licensed cultivators can grow cannabis in Oklahoma. Medical marijuana patients are allowed to grow up to six mature plants and six seedling plants. Mature plants are defined as plants that have begun to produce flowers. Once your plant completes the vegetative stage and begins producing buds, it is considered to be a mature plant. An immature plant is a seedling or a plant that has not yet begun flowering or is still in the vegetative growth stage.
Caregivers may cultivate plants for up to 5 patients. Home growing in Oklahoma for medical cannabis requires growers to make sure that all plants are not visible from any street that is adjacent to the property. To grow at home, you must own the property or have permission from the owner or landlord. If renting, it is best to have this permission in writing in the form of a statement in the lease or an email granting permission.
A commercial grower license in Oklahoma requires a $2,500 application fee. Growers are only allowed to sell to licensed dispensaries, processors, and other growers. There is a 7% excise tax on all cannabis sales in Oklahoma.
