Delta 8 is an isomer of THC, much like the more common Delta-9, which is what produces the ‘high’ when smoking pot. Delta-8 produces a milder effect with reduced potency, which may be due to the fact that a double bond occurs on the 8th carbon instead of the 9th carbon as in Delta-9. This might be what affects the ability of Delta-8 to bind to cannabinoid receptors in the endocannabinoid system. Delta-8 may be more widely available, however, since it is not listed on the Schedule 1 federal drug list.
