Sauce is a popular cannabis concentrate characterized by its liquid consistency, and it is one of the most sought-after extracts among cannabis enthusiasts. This concentrate is produced through solvent extraction methods like BHO (Butane Hash Oil), PHO (Propane Hash Oil), or CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), and it can be made from various starting plant materials, including trim, buds or fresh frozen cannabis.

When made from cured flowers, sauce tends to have fewer terpenes, whereas sauce derived from fresh frozen buds is technically considered a type of “live resin” and typically boasts a more robust and pronounced flavor profile.

The distinctive name “sauce” is derived from its liquid texture, which sets it apart from other concentrates. Sauces are renowned for their high terpene content, which contributes to their exceptionally robust and diverse flavor profiles.

Sauce is typically created using a specialized extraction process that yields a two-component final product: crystalline structures rich in cannabinoids, particularly THC, suspended within a terpene-rich oil product. Sauce has a viscous consistency with a resemblance to marmalade. The method of creating sauce does a superb job of isolating cannabinoids and preserving a high terpene content.

Due to the separation of terpenes and cannabinoids during the extraction process, the distribution of these compounds within the final product may not be uniform. As a result, dabs taken from the same sauce batch can provide varying levels of terpenes and cannabinoids, leading to different experiences for users.

The process of producing sauce involves stripping the cannabis plant material of oils and trichomes using a solvent, followed by purging the solvent from the resulting mixture. “Winterization” is then performed, which removes excess fats and lipids. The end result typically exhibits a yellow or amber hue, and it is often distinguished by the presence of visible “diamonds” composed of THCA within the terpene-rich sauce. The texture can also appear granular in certain instances.

Sauce is a highly sought-after cannabis concentrate known for its liquid consistency and rich terpene content, delivering a diverse and flavorful experience for consumers.
