Micronutrients are minerals that are essential in lower quantities than macronutrients for healthy plant growth and the production of dense buds. Micronutrients are to plants what vitamins are to the body, they are not the main source of nutrition such as protein and carbs, but a vitamin deficiency can make a big difference to one’s health such as a micronutrient deficiency negatively affects plant growth. Micronutrients include:

Boron – important for structural development and to bolster cell walls.
Calcium – required for structural integrity and helps to regulate enzyme and hormone activity.
Copper – contributes to photosynthesis and helps plants to metabolize proteins and carbohydrates.
Iron – helps plants maintain structure and function of chloroplasts, converts light energy into sugars.
Magnesium – the powerhouse behind photosynthesis, forms chlorophyll molecules and enables cell division, protein synthesis, enzyme activation and phosphate metabolism.
Manganese – contributes to important plant functions such as respiration, photosynthesis, and reproduction.
Molybdenum – enables plants to synthesize amino acids.
Sulphur – help to build plant vitamins, proteins, and amino acids.
Zinc – assists in internode elongation and growth hormone production.

While these micronutrients are required in small amounts, they are all quite essential for healthy plant growth and big, dense buds.
