The cannabis plant produces at least 200 bioactive compounds, with phytocannabinoids and terpenes getting the majority of the attention. Flavonoids, however, are also an important compound produced by the cannabis plant, with about 20 various types of flavonoids identified in cannabis. Flavonoids are not unique to cannabis as there have been thousands of flavonoids identified by scientists throughout nature, in flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Flavonoids are similar to terpenes in that they contribute to the perception of cannabis through our senses.
