Cannabis plants go through a series of stages including:

  • Germination (3 to 10 days)
  • Seedling (2 to 3 weeks)
  • Vegetative (3 to 16 weeks)
  • Flowering (8 to 11 weeks)

The vegetative stage is where your plant growth really takes off with roots and foliage rapidly developing. This occurs after you have transplanted your plant into a larger pot. During the vegetative stage, cannabis plants need healthy soil, nitrogen and potassium-rich nutrients, an increase in warm water and moist air flow. This is also the time to start training and topping your plants. Cannabis plants begin to show sex organs after a few weeks into the vegetative stage, so if you need to identify male plants from females, now is the time.
