Sensimilla (also spelled “sinsemilla”) is a term derived from Spanish, meaning “without seeds.” It refers to unfertilized female cannabis plants that are deliberately kept away from male plants to prevent pollination. Because these female plants do not produce seeds, they instead focus on producing large, resinous flowers rich in cannabinoids like THC and CBD. The absence of seeds in the buds not only increases the quality and potency of the cannabis but also enhances its flavor and aroma due to a higher concentration of terpenes. Sensimilla is highly prized among cannabis connoisseurs and is often associated with high-grade marijuana.
