Schwag, sometimes referred to as “schwag weed” or “dirt weed,” is a term used in the cannabis community to describe the lowest grade of cannabis, which is considered low-quality and generally unsuitable for sale in dispensaries. This type of marijuana is characterized by several unfavorable attributes, making it significantly less desirable for consumption compared to higher-quality strains.

Key Characteristics of Schwag:

    • Appearance and Quality: Schwag is often brownish in color, dry, and can have a dull, lackluster appearance. It lacks the vibrant and visually appealing characteristics of higher-grade cannabis like skunk weed.
    • Potency: One of the defining features of schwag is its low potency. It contains minimal levels of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. As a result, the high produced by schwag is typically weak or absent.
    • Aroma and Taste: Schwag lacks the rich and enticing aroma and flavor associated with premium cannabis strains. Its scent is often unremarkable or even unpleasant due to the degradation of terpenes, which are responsible for the distinctive smells and tastes in cannabis.
    • Composition: Schwag may contain a significant number of seeds, stems, fan leaves, and other unwanted plant materials. These components contribute to a harsh and less enjoyable smoking experience.

Due to its low quality, schwag is usually considered subpar for smoking and is often repurposed for alternative uses. It is sometimes used to create edibles or hash, as the undesirable characteristics that make it unsuitable for smoking are less noticeable in edibles.

Schwag is distinct from other low-quality cannabis varieties, such as “brick weed,” which is typically compressed into bricks for discreet and easy distribution, but still shares the common trait of being of lower quality than premium cannabis strains.

Schwag is the term used to describe the lowest grade of cannabis, known for its poor quality, low potency, unimpressive appearance, and undesirable smoking experience. It is a designation used by cannabis enthusiasts to differentiate between low-grade and high-grade marijuana.
