Propane hash oil, most commonly called PHO, is a cannabis concentrate that is extracted by using propane alone as the solvent. There are many types of cannabis concentrates, such as oil, wax, or budder, that can be made with various extraction methods, such as using hydrocarbons which include propane and butane, or by using ethanol and carbon dioxide (CO2). These are all common solvents used to extract desired cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis flower.

PHO is considered one of the most potent types of cannabis concentrates with THC levels that can reach up to 90% or higher and should be consumed in small doses, particularly for novice users. PHO is made with liquid propane that is pressurized and passed through a container filled with cannabis flower. The propane dissolves the trichomes, which contain the cannabinoids and terpenes, from the plant material. The resulting liquid is then filtered and purged of residual solvent, leaving behind a highly concentrated oil that can be consumed in various ways, such as vaping, dabbing, or using in topicals and edibles.
