Ice water hash is a cannabis concentrate that is made with simple mechanical methods and no solvents. Cannabis flower is put into ice water which freezes the trichomes and allows for separation from the plant matter by agitating the mixture. Cannabinoids and trichomes are not water-soluble, which means they will not be damaged with the right amount of agitation.

Ice water hash is also called bubble hash, cold water hash, and ice wax, with quality ratings ranging from one star to six stars for high-quality bubble hash. The ice water mixture is filtered through a variety of mesh bags with varying micron grades to refine the hash.

Making ice water hash is a safer method than using chemical solvents like propane, CO2, or butane, that can also strip some resin and trichomes from the plant. Bubble hash preserves the flavor of the original cannabis strain more than extracts.
