The endocannabinoid system, ECS, is a biological system composed of endocannabinoids and is a vast network of cellular receptors and chemical signals that are found throughout our bodies and brains.
Endocannabinoids are lipid-based, endogenous neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in the brain, acting like traffic police to regulate the levels of activity of many other neurotransmitters and control biological systems such as pain, energy, memory, blood pressure, appetite, alertness, temperature, hunger, immune response, and more. Learn more about the various types of cannabinoids and how they affect the endocannabinoid system: Cannabinoids and Cannabinoid Receptors Explained.
