With the legalization of recreational marijuana becoming a reality in states across the US, finding cannabis seeds for sale has never been easier! But if you’re new to growing and are looking to buy cannabis seeds, you may want to consider feminized autoflower seeds as a way to get started.

The Benefits of Feminized Autoflowering Seeds

Feminized seeds in general are more desirable for growers because they produce only female plants which result in smokable buds. When feminized seeds are combined with the ability to autoflower, it opens the door to some pretty awesome advantages.

  1. Faster Growth Period

Autoflowering cannabis seeds grow in a fraction of the time it takes photoperiod seeds to grow. While photoperiod plants can take several months before flowering, autoflowering plants can start to flower anywhere between 21-30 days after planting the seed (70-85 days total to harvest time, depending on the strain). If you want your plants to flower and produce buds as quickly as possible, feminized autoflowering seeds are your best bet.

  1. They Don’t Require a Light Cycle Change

Due to its genetic makeup, autoflowering seeds can flower without the necessity of a 12 hour light cycle to promote the flowering stage. This means they require less overall maintenance and saves you a lot of time.  Also, it allows you to have multiple genetics in one small space so they can all be on one light cycle.

  1. More Resilient To Adverse Conditions

Autoflowering seeds can stand up to pests, irregular feeding patterns, and other threatening factors far better than regular cannabis plants can. This is due to their deeply rooted ruderalis genetics and Siberian origins, where adverse conditions were the only kinds of conditions available.

  1. They Don’t Take Up Much Space

Autoflowering plants don’t generally grow as large compared to regular cannabis plants and this makes them ideal for any type of living space.  So if you live in an apartment or do not have a lot of available space, autos are the way to go.

  1. You Can Enjoy Several Harvests Per Year

Since you’re growing times are less than that of regular cannabis plants, you can enjoy harvesting your buds a few times throughout the year. This can give you the benefit of experimenting with a few different strains to find combinations that you love most.

  1. Contain a Good Amount of CBD

Autoflowering seeds typically contain lower amounts of THC and higher amounts of CBD. However, you can find strains that are genetically modified to have a good amount of both. CBD is widely known for its therapeutic benefits and treatments for a long list of chronic illnesses and pains.

  1. Perfect For Beginners

If you’re new to growing, Feminized Autoflowering seeds provide you with a faster way to grow smokable buds, without having to worry about outside light messing up your light cycle or pests destroying your crops.

The Drawbacks of Feminized Autoflowering Seeds

There are some disadvantages to growing feminized autoflowering seeds and although they may not be considered “deal-breakers” to most people, you need to know about them before you buy cannabis seeds.

  1. They Produce Lower Yields

Since autoflowering seeds produce smaller plants, it would only make sense that the buds produced are also smaller. If you’re growing for commercial purposes, this may not be the right choice for you, since volume and quantity are of the utmost importance in commercial growing.

However, if you’re growing for personal enjoyment, you should be able to get all the buds you need from feminized autoflowering seeds. And don’t forget, you can harvest several times throughout the year, which makes it easier to increase the amount of marijuana available to you.

  1. Slightly Higher Cost

Autoflowering seeds need more light than regular seeds so this will most likely raise your electricity bill each month. However, it’s important to realize that while your lighting costs are higher, your feeding costs are lower. That’s because these types of seeds require fewer nutrients.

  1. Cloning Is Not an Option

Unfortunately unlike photoperiod plants, you cannot clone autoflowering plants. This doesn’t allow you to continue to grow those exact strains that you fall in love with.  However autos are a great way to get started.
